After much deliberation, battery-charging, camera-tweaking, bending, hemming and hawing, I finally have the entry for Click.
I bought some dried cherry chillies from the wet market last weekend. Or what I thought were dried cherry chillies. They were actually dried red dates! Ah well, as long as they are red, it works. And maybe I can come up with some nice chutney or dip with them, who knows.
As I did last weekend, I took close to 15o pictures today and finally have my entry. I am so happy I can finally think of food without wondering what colour it is. Phew.
Hot & Sweet – My Click-Red Entry
Now tell me. If these were in a transparent, unlabelled packet in a shop selling vegetables, wouldn’t you have thought they are dried cherry chillies too? There you go!
Aparna
I honestly thought they were chillies till I read your post. And the picture looks good.
Trying to take “hatke” pictures for CLICK usually drives me and my family crazy.
After I’ve tried all sorts of acrobatics (cos I’m still terrible at techinique) and my eyes are popping out, there are times I feel I should give up photography and relax!
But then the next month it starts all over again. 😀
Nags
Thanks everyone who likes the pics 🙂
Shreya – You were definitely not harsh! Constructive criticism is always welcome, after all I am still a beginner.
I actually bought a very small packet of the dates. The white paper bag I saved last week when we ordered pizza and the ketchup came in it. The moment I saw the bag, I wanted to try this. So, inorder to fill the bag, I put the dried red chillies at the bottom, put a plastic piece over them and then put the red dates on top to make it look filling. I also cut off the bag a bit on top.
I am telling you, this.takes.time!!

Wow..thats HOTTTTT Click! Worth all ur efforts Nags! Wish u all the best, hope this entry is a winner!

I probably would have mistaken them for chillis, but would have felt them up 😉 to make sure. The red dates I have seen in fruit shops a couple of times were still on the stalk, and tubular and smooth.
gkbloodsugar
They certainly don’t look like any Date I’ve ever seen. How strange.

Hi Nags, you are amazing:-) I love this click, and the hot and sweet caption is perfect. The bag of dried red dates looks definitely like dried red chillies! You can make date pickle, or date and raisin chutney with those dried red chillies from the first picture. Love the second pic too, is it a white paper bag that you have kept it in, and how many kgs did you buy? Awesome colour and click again, I hope they taste as great too:-) I truly am happy with this entry…sorry if my last comment felt harsh, I did have second thoughts after posting…
